Plot
On the artificial island of Little Happy, off the coast of South Africa, Dr. Emma Collins carries on her father Nick’s research into climate change and great white shark conservation. Her team includes Spinnaker, Miya, and Eugene Shaw, who was Nick’s closest friend and a brother-like figure to Emma. Emma’s friends Nandi and her brother Bahari also live on the island. The bull shark Bella, who caused trouble in earlier years, is discovered dead after becoming entangled in fishing lines. Dr. Richard Lowell, Emma’s ex-boyfriend, and his crew find her while aboard their vessel, the Thasos. They head to Little Happy and learn that Bella’s three remaining pups have grown into adults, the only survivors of their litter.
When Richard and his team dive to pursue the bull sharks, Emma joins them and spots three great white sharks that have been eaten by the bull sharks. A crew member named Brown is later found dead, cut in half by the bull sharks, which some believe are growing more aggressive due to climate change. With Emma’s help, one of the largest bull sharks is tranquilized and caught, though Richard gets hurt. Later, Bahari goes fishing and is attacked and eaten by one of the two remaining bull sharks. Nandi later finds his severed arm.
Grieving her friend, Emma confronts Richard. He explains that these bull sharks are more intelligent, recounting events from the first two films. He says that using a beacon attached to their mother, he can lure her offspring, since they know she is dead. He warns that if these sharks reproduce, disaster will follow. Lucas, the leader of mercenaries from Genotic Labs, takes control from Richard and decides to kill everyone and escape with the captured shark. They set a mine to destroy everything, not knowing that Emma and her team are watching via an underwater drone.
Emma again confronts Richard, accusing him of planning to murder them. Lucas overhears and attacks Emma and her team, causing heavy damage to island structures with explosives. In the chaos, Emma escapes, but Richard is captured by Lucas’s men, Schill and Earls, and taken to the Thasos.
