Premiering January 19, 2020 on the Zeus Network, Joseline's Cabaret follows Puerto Rican rapper Joseline Hernandez and the young women vying to perform alongside her in her cabaret shows, a process marked by frequent verbal and physical fights. Cast members often return across multiple seasons, with cash prizes offered in the second, fifth, and sixth installments. The show has run for six seasons, each subtitled by its filming location: Miami, Atlanta, Las Vegas, New York, Texas, and Los Angeles. A four-episode audition special aired between seasons one and two in 2020.
Development
After six seasons on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Joseline Hernandez walked away from the show on June 1, 2017, following reported friction with creator Mona Scott-Young and the production team. By January 8, 2018, news broke that Hernandez had inked a deal with We TV for her own docu-series, produced by Carlos King. That project, initially called Joseline Takes Miami, started shooting in July 2018, but production hit a snag; on March 4, 2019, reports indicated the network wanted reshoots and the project was stalled.
Later that year, on October 11, 2019, Hernandez signed on with Zeus Network, a subscription-based streaming service driven by influencers, to both star in and produce her own content. A teaser for Joseline's Cabaret dropped on October 22, 2019, followed by an official trailer on December 18. On January 10, 2020, it was announced that Joseline's Cabaret: Miami—the first installment of what was planned as a reality franchise—would premiere on January 19, 2020.
That show aired alongside two other programs featuring Hernandez during January and February 2020: VH1's Love & Hip Hop: Miami and We TV's Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition. On February 8, 2020, Hernandez revealed that season two would be shot in Atlanta. Zeus confirmed the series renewal on September 21, 2020, and Joseline's Cabaret: Atlanta debuted on April 18, 2021. Meanwhile, on December 10, 2020, We TV announced it had acquired the rights to both Joseline's Cabaret: Miami and The Real Blac Chyna, which began airing in censored form on April 15, 2021.
On March 2, 2021, Hernandez confirmed that the third season would take place in Las Vegas. Zeus then announced on December 20, 2021, that Joseline's Cabaret: Las Vegas would premiere on January 16, 2022.
Series synopsis
Joseline Hernandez tries to get a cabaret show off the ground in Miami, Florida, and the series follows her daily life through that struggle. The action takes place at G5ive Miami, a strip club where she worked ten years earlier, and it offers a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of the dancers there. The women who perform in the cabaret also appear in confessional interviews as supporting cast members. Among them are Daisy, whose real name is Seanyce Bishop, from Miami—she calls herself Joseline's 'bottom bitch' and is a friend—along with dancers Ms. JaaDreams (Coriana Singleton), Lucky Hu$tla (Nieja Howell), Chazzity Leslie, and Sapphire Eden (Tierra Williams), who comes from Cleveland, Ohio.
Original music by Joseline and her fiancé Ballistic Beats, whose real name is Robin Ingouma, plays during interludes, and he serves as the show's music producer. Halfway through the season, a fight breaks out between Joseline and Chazzity, putting the cabaret's future in doubt. After several meetings with the cast, Joseline sits down with Daisy, Chazzity, Lucky, and Sapphire at the club for one last trial run of the show. In the end, she decides to abandon the project and relocate it to Atlanta, taking only Lucky and Sapphire with her.
