Bride of the Robot
Erotic text adventure with point-and-click elements and time travel.
Bride of the Robot is an erotic text adventure game released in 1988. It was developed and self-published by Free Spirit Software for the Amiga and Atari ST. The Atari ST version saw a European release through CSJ Computersoft, while the Amiga version was also released in 1988. This game is the first installment in the Brad Stallion series, followed by Sex Vixens from Space and Planet of Lust (both 1989), and then Sex Olympics (1991).
In the story, Professor Wang unveils a robot with a sex drive during a demonstration in Space City. The robot kills Wang and kidnaps Miss Allura Galaxy, a beauty contest winner. Brad Stallion, a freelance government agent commanding the phallic spaceship the Big Thruster, is tasked by the Federated Government with rescuing her. He wakes up hungover on a moon of Mammaria and must first recover his missing ship. If he fails, the entire male population of the universe will lose their sex drive, leading to human extinction. During his mission, Stallion uses the late professor's time machine to travel through time.
Gameplay relies mostly on typed text commands, but players can also interact with objects and characters using the mouse, similar to a point-and-click adventure. Movement in the four cardinal directions is handled with arrow keys. Shortcut keys access inventory (I), location details (L), and game status (S). The Big Thruster's AI, Sandie, offers advice based on the player's location and situation. The game also includes an option to print a transcript of its text.
The Amiga version was reviewed by QuestBusters in February 1990. The magazine criticized the graphics as "not great" but praised the "juvenile" humor.

Lore & Background
In Bride of the Robot, the player controls Brad Stallion, a freelance government agent and captain of the phallic spaceship the Big Thruster. The plot begins when Professor Wang demonstrates the first robot with a sex drive at Space City; the robot goes berserk, kills Wang, and kidnaps beauty contest winner Miss Allura Galaxy. The Federated Government assigns Stallion to rescue Miss Galaxy, warning that failure will cause the entire universe's male population to lose their sex drive, leading to human extinction. Stallion starts the game hungover on one of Mammaria's moons and must recover his missing ship before traveling through time using the late Professor's time machine. This game is the first in the Brad Stallion series, with Sex Vixens from Space and Planet of Lust following in 1989.
Reader's Guide
Bride of the Robot received largely negative reviews. QuestBusters, in a February 1990 issue, criticized the graphics as 'not great' and the puzzles as 'dumb', noting an abundance of ways to die and describing the game's mentality as that of 'a thirteen year-old juvenile delinquent'. The magazine found the game overpriced, stating that real pornography is cheaper and has more sexual content, and summarized it as 'disappointing'. German magazine Amiga Joker gave the Amiga version a 34% overall score, calling the plot 'stupid' and the game 'outdated', describing it as 'a cheap game running on Commodore 64 code from 1985'. They criticized the low-quality graphics, limited sound effects (a beep-y wedding march and a few miserable sounds), and a parser that 'barely understands anything'. Amiga Joker concluded the game had 'essentially nothing to look forward to' and suggested buying a porno magazine instead. The game's significance lies in its place as a late-1980s erotic adventure title that attempted to combine text input with mouse-based point-and-click interaction, but was widely panned for its technical and design shortcomings.
