Reception
Electronic Gaming Monthly's four reviewers found the bosses overly difficult but generally approved of the game for its large levels and weapon selection, with one remarking that what it lacks in originality it makes up for in playability. They were more critical of the Genesis version, citing inferior graphics, sound, and control compared to the SNES version. GamePro also criticized the lack of originality but praised the large levels, weapon selection, and the ability to arrest enemies instead of killing them, and gave the Genesis version a more negative review for inferior graphics and sounds. Electronic Gaming Monthly noted that the game translates surprisingly well to the Game Boy, retaining most levels and graphical effects, though sound quality suffered. GamePro's review of the Game Boy version criticized its similarity to previous handheld action/adventure games and so-so controls, but concluded it was worth playing. Next Generation rated the Genesis version three stars out of five, calling it yet another side-scroller, and rated the SNES version two stars out of five, stating that while well animated and tightly designed, it was not very interesting.
