Track listing
The track listing includes "Bless the Beasts and Children" performed by The Carpenters, released as a B-side and peaking at #67 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Cotton's Dream", later known as "Nadia's Theme (The Young and the Restless)", was extended and released as a single in 1976. "Down the Line" is a vocal version by Barry De Vorzon, with its reprise transposed higher and instrumental. "Bless the Beasts and Children (Reprise #1)" is one of two instrumental versions on the LP.
"Lost" is sung by Renée Armand, with a melody identical to "Cotton's Dream" but a different arrangement including lyrics. "Bless the Beasts and Children (Reprise #2)" is the second instrumental reprise, not performed by The Carpenters. "Down the Line (Reprise)" is an instrumental version transposed from D to E. "Journey's End" features "Down the Line" fading into strings playing "Bless the Beasts and Children" repeatedly, transposing lower each time.
The album also includes "Stampede", "Free", and "Requiem". There are three distinct "Bless the Beasts and Children" tracks: the 3:07 vocal version, and two reprises each about 2:12. Track #4 is a hybrid of "Cotton's Dream" and "Bless the Beasts and Children", while track #6 is a different version with strings playing the melody. The soundtrack has never been released on CD and is only available on out-of-print vinyl. A re-release of the 2:12 version (A&M 1890) reached #17 in Canada's RPM Magazine MOR chart on April 16, 1977.
