Album details

The compilation includes the four albums Liza Minnelli released on A&M Records: Liza Minnelli (1968), Come Saturday Morning (1969), New Feelin' (1970), and Live at the Olympia in Paris (1972). It also contains previously unreleased bonus tracks from the recording sessions of those albums.

This was the first time all four albums were made available on CD, and they appear with their original track listings. The set includes a 16-page booklet with an essay by historian Scott Schechter, credits, and rare photographs. The tracks were remastered in 24-bit resolution from the original master tapes.

Critical reception

John Bush of AllMusic gave the compilation three out of five stars, noting that while the songs came from critically praised albums, they had not been commercial successes at the time of original release. David Wiegand of CTInsider called the release timely and invaluable for those familiar only with Minnelli's post-Cabaret recordings, praising her delicacy and subtlety during this era.

Steve Weinstein of Edge dismissed the tracks as forgettable elevator music, questioning whether Minnelli was forced to record them at a time when artists like Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, and Laura Nyro were redefining women's roles in music. Steve Horowitz of PopMatters praised the stylistic diversity of the four albums, calling two of them excellent, and noted that the bonus tracks on Disc 2 were worthwhile for their more low-key performances. Ben Rimalower of Playbill included the compilation in his 2013 list of the twelve best albums of Minnelli's career.
