Draft
The Jazz entered the draft with two first-round picks and one second-round pick. Their original first-round pick landed 10th after the lottery, while the other picks came from previous trades. The original second-round pick was conveyed to the New York Knicks as the more favorable pick after Utah finished with a worse record than the Cleveland Cavaliers the prior season. On the first night, the Jazz selected freshmen Cody Williams (10th) and Isaiah Collier (29th), both regarded as needing development—Williams lacking strength and Collier having turnover issues. General manager Justin Zanik described the roster as a 'young, developmental squad.' On the second night, the Jazz drafted Kyle Filipowski, who had been invited to the green room as an expected first-round selection but was not chosen. Draft analyst Jonathan Givony reported that the slide was due to teams' concerns about Filipowski's relationship with his fiancé, claiming he was 'estranged from his family' and that she was 'much older than him.' A Jazz front office member stated they had done a background check and were excited to select him.
