Production

The series is a continuation of John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in LA, a six-episode series that aired on Netflix during the 2024 Netflix is a Joke Festival. The name change from Everybody's in LA resulted from focus groups indicating that people in the United States do not like Los Angeles. The first season consists of 12 episodes airing from March 12 to May 28, 2025, with Mulaney returning as host and Richard Kind continuing as announcer and sidekick. Deadline Hollywood reported in January 2025 that the show had received a two-season order.

Reception

The first episode received positive reviews. Rotten Tomatoes reported a 100% rating based on nine critic reviews, while Metacritic gave a 77% rating based on six reviews. Ben Travers of IndieWire compared the show's humor to Conan O'Brien's Late Night work and its visual style to Johnny Carson's era, noting that Mulaney is not trying to make another late-night talk show but rather his own. Alison Herman of Variety described the series as consistently delightful chaos, stating that it took the cultural decline of the talk show as an opportunity by embracing niche fascination and treating the talk show format as an aesthetic to be tried on and toyed with.
