2018–19 Oklahoma City Thunder season

Thunder fall to Trail Blazers in first round.

The 2018–19 Oklahoma City Thunder season was the 11th season of the franchise in Oklahoma City and the 53rd in the National Basketball Association. Nick Collison, who had been with the franchise since its Seattle days, retired in May 2018, leaving Russell Westbrook as the longest tenured Thunder player and the last remaining roster member from the 2011–12 Western Conference championship team. The Thunder had the fourth best team defensive rating in the NBA and clinched a playoff berth after the Kings lost to the Rockets on March 30.

Offseason

The Thunder entered the draft with two second-round picks, having traded their first-round pick in the Enes Kanter trade to the Utah Jazz in 2015. On draft night, they traded a 2019 second-round pick and cash to the Charlotte Hornets for the draft rights to Hamidou Diallo, the forty-fifth pick, a deal finalized on July 6. After the draft and subsequent transactions, the Thunder added Kentucky guard Hamidou Diallo, Virginia guard Devon Hall, and Texas-Arlington forward Kevin Hervey. On July 20, the Thunder traded Dakari Johnson and cash to the Orlando Magic for Rodney Purvis, saving nearly $6.6 million in luxury tax; three days later, they sent Purvis to the Boston Celtics for Abdel Nader and cash. On July 25, the Thunder traded Carmelo Anthony and a 2022 protected first-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal, receiving Dennis Schröder from Atlanta and Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot from Philadelphia. Anthony had rejected the idea of coming off the bench after the previous season, and the trade helped the Thunder reduce their luxury tax bill. Schröder had averaged 19.4 points as the Hawks' leading scorer in 2017–18, while Luwawu-Cabarrot had spent two seasons with the 76ers since being selected 24th overall in the 2016 NBA draft.
