Reception
The show received mixed or average reviews, with a collective score of 42/100 from Metacritic. Mary McNamara of the Los Angeles Times gave a neutral rating, noting that despite a frantic and clunky initial execution, the show sometimes showed signs of transcending the typical medical procedural. Linda Stasi of the New York Post awarded one and a half stars, describing it as an attempt to combine The Sopranos and Grey's Anatomy that resulted in an animal made by committee.
David Wiegand of the San Francisco Chronicle gave a 0 rating, calling the show a ding-dong of a dud. Some critics were favorable: Glenn Garvin of the Miami Herald praised the concept, stating that Grace Devlin's complex relationship with gangsters elevated the show above a Grey's Anatomy rip-off. Diane Werts of Newsday noted that while it was not exactly House, it was unlike any other show with its mix of moral dilemmas, medical crises, family ties, double-life-living, and rubouts.
