Transactions
On December 29, 2007, the Jazz traded Gordan Giricek and a first round draft pick (through 2009–2014) to the Philadelphia 76ers for Kyle Korver. Before the trade, the team lacked a reliable outside shooter in clutch situations. Located in the Western Conference, Utah felt compelled to make a significant move as top teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns were also making big trades. After acquiring Korver, the Jazz became an up-tempo team, producing long winning streaks and climbing the conference standings, virtually clinching a playoff spot.
