Production

The Life & Times of Tim was HBO's first original animated series after Todd McFarlane's Spawn, which ended in 1999. Fox originally developed the show in 2007, but HBO picked it up for a ten-episode first season that aired from September 28 to November 30, 2008. Steve Dildarian voices the title character and serves as executive producer. He is best known for the Budweiser Lizards ads and his short film Angry Unpaid Hooker, which won Best Animated Short at the 2006 Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen and inspired the series. Tom Werner, Jimmy Miller, and Mike Clements also serve as executive producers. The final original episode aired on February 17, 2012, when HBO canceled the series.

Cast

Steve Dildarian plays Tim, the main character and a well-meaning but hapless office worker at a New York company called Omnicorp. His tendency to lie or use poor judgment regularly lands him in deeply awkward situations. MJ Otto voices Amy, his patient girlfriend. Nick Kroll is Stu, Tim’s coworker and best friend who is a frequent pot smoker.

Matt Johnson performs two roles: Rodney, another friend who works as an assistant to the boss and has a Staten Island guido personality, and Stan, a perpetually angry and foul-mouthed Omnicorp employee. Peter Giles is The Boss, also named Percy Davis, the self-centered head of the company. Bob Morrow voices Debbie the Prostitute and Gay Gary, among other characters; Alan Tudyk replaced him as Debbie in the third season. Additional voices come from Julianne Grossman, Edie McClurg, Andrew Daly, Jon Daly, Kari Wahlgren, Brian Scolaro, Melanie Lynskey, Jamie Denbo, Rick Gomez, and Eddie Pepitone.

Guest stars include Bob Saget, Bob Einstein, Jeff Garlin, Cheri Oteri, Daniel Tosh, Trevor Moore, Aziz Ansari, Elliott Gould, Bob Odenkirk, Marc Wootton, Billy Dee Williams, and Tim Meadows.
