History
The programme was launched under Jimmy Hill, with three guest football journalists sitting around a table over breakfast or brunch to discuss matches, news, and gossip, including a review of Sunday newspaper stories. It was originally proposed to be set in Hill's actual kitchen, with viewers trying to guess his home's location from the window view, though the truth was revealed in 2006 when Hill was late, claiming to be stuck in traffic. The show succeeded the Friday night discussion programme Hold the Back Page.
Revamp
In 2007, Sky Sports did not renew Hill's 12-month contract, and his name was removed from the title. The presenter role was given to either Bill Bradshaw or Brian Woolnough, and the guest count increased from two to three journalists while the breakfast table format remained. Woolnough became the permanent presenter, with regular guests including Patrick Barclay, Oliver Holt, Martin Samuel, Paul Smith, and Henry Winter. After Woolnough's death in September 2012, Neil Ashton hosted, initially standing in during his predecessor's illness.
Ashton presented his final show on 12 January 2020, and Jacqui Oatley was announced as the new presenter on 14 January 2020. A podcast began in 2009, available on the Sky Sports website and iTunes. In August 2020, Sky cancelled the show for the 2020/21 season due to the congested fixture schedule, though a podcast continued hosted by Vicky Gomersall and Darren Lewis. In July 2025, Sky announced the programme would return in August 2025, hosted by Dharmesh Sheth.
