List of episodes

After leaving A-Z Restaurants because a chef was fired, Gordon Ramsay opens his own restaurant. He discovers ITV secretly filmed him yelling at staff for a show called Britain's Most Unbearable Bosses, which is set to air the same night his restaurant opens. He fears this will hurt bookings and his reputation, but the restaurant ends up fully booked. Opening night turns chaotic when the extraction fans and air conditioning break, pushing the kitchen temperature to 138 degrees Fahrenheit and making most staff nearly faint. Ramsay refuses to lower his standards and fires his assistant wine waiter for drinking a bottle of Badoit in front of customers. He goes home to watch the show with his wife Tana and Marcus Wareing.

In October 1998, one month after opening, Ramsay takes 5,000 pounds (later revealed to be 3,500) from the English Apples and Pears Association to show a Bramley apple recipe, but he secretly uses a Granny Smith apple base with a bit of Bramley puree, telling the camera that food critics will not notice. He tries to impress Guardian critic Matthew Fort in the dining room and deals with media fallout from throwing Sunday Times critic A. A. Gill out of the restaurant after earlier personal attacks.

Ramsay goes fishing with Marco Pierre White, who tells the camera that Ramsay is extremely competitive, even in simple things like fishing.
