Synopsis

The show depicted actual FBI cases through dramatic reenactments and interviews with agents and forensic scientists involved in the investigations. Cases covered included the kidnapping and murder of Polly Klaas, the conviction of John Gotti, the Unabomber case, the World Trade Center Bombing, the Sara Tokars murder, prison escapes by Christopher Jeburk, John Birges's Harvey's Casino bomb, and the murder of Christina Long. Unlike The New Detectives, the series focused on crimes where the FBI assisted local police, such as murders, narcotics, bank robberies, and kidnappings.

Hosts and narrators

Anthony Call, an actor from the soap operas The Guiding Light and One Life to Live, co-hosted and narrated every US episode and some international ones. Susan Rae and Stephen Kemble provided narration for various international versions. Lucy Longhurst narrated the international episodes "Murdering Cowboy," about Claude Dallas, and "Deadly Paradise," covering the Sea Wind Murders on Palmyra Atoll. Peter Dickson narrated season two internationally, including "A Model Killer" about Christopher Wilder and "Cat and Mouse" about Larry Gene Bell. Susan Rae narrated "Dishonoured," concerning the disappearance of USMC Capt. Shirley Russell, and "When Seconds Count," about a 12-year-old's abduction in Lodi, California.
