Plot
Science professor John Butler, his wife Kim, teenage daughter Katie, young son Greg, and dog Digger are on a rafting trip along the Amazon River in an uncharted canyon. Their raft hits a rock and capsizes, sweeping them through a cavern into a whirlpool. They resurface in a realm where humans coexist with prehistoric creatures. The Butlers meet a Neanderthal clan led by Gorok, his wife Gara, their teenage son Lok, and young daughter Tana, who own a baby Stegosaurus named Glump. Gorok's family saved the Butlers upon arrival and help them seek a way home, while the Butlers introduce basic technology such as levers, wheels, sailboats, and windmills.
