Successor series

The Twentieth Century was replaced in 1967 by a spin-off, The 21st Century, narrated by Cronkite and produced by many of the same team. It examined aspects of the future already evident in the present and was sponsored by Union Carbide. The 21st Century ran three seasons, ending on 4 January 1970; the stated reason was that writers had run out of topics, though CBS may have wanted a more commercially successful program.
