Background
After her runner-up finish on American Idol, Crystal signed with Jive Records and 19 Recordings, a label once linked to RCA. She had initially planned to put the album out in early 2011 but instead moved the release to December 14. The record includes a cover of Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth," which she described as always relevant, no matter the era or the world's conflicts. Drummer Chad Szeliga, known for his work with Breaking Benjamin and OurAfter, laid down tracks for "Arlene," "Finally Got It Right," and "Hold On"—the last of which was penned by Nickelback's Chad Kroeger. The second single, "Ridin' with the Radio," got its debut performance on American Idol. Another track, "Holy Toledo," was played on the show when Crystal returned to her hometown, marking the first time an Idol contestant had their own song aired before leaving the competition.
