Did You Know?

Release, promotion, and marketing

Before the album dropped, Che gave fans early looks at tracks like "KISS" featuring CXO, "Pose for the Pic", "Love (MKB)", and "Green Day". A Ksubi-sponsored listening party in New York City was broken up by police before it even started, fueling underground hype. Days ahead of release, Che sent a loaded iPod to streamer 42CEO. Leaks and fan chatter on TikTok and SoundCloud built further anticipation. Che called the album "Punk, raw, and bass".

Critical reception

Rest in Bass was widely praised for its high-energy production, blown-out sound, and creative use of mixtape structure. Reviewers highlighted its commitment to a lo-fi, aggressive style but noted a lack of emotional depth. Pitchfork compared it to Playboi Carti's Whole Lotta Red and named it one of "The 32 Best Albums of 2025," describing it as "Whole Lotta Red for nerds." The outlet gave it an 8.3 out of 10 and Best New Music status; critic Rae-Aila Crumble said Che "pushes his voice to extremes" and called the album "the platonic ideal of rage rap," singling out "Doe Deer," "Dior Leopard," and "Mannequin." Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop gave it a light 7, calling it "one of the most fully realized rage projects in recent memory." He praised features from Xaviersobased and Chuckyy for adding contrast and energy, but criticized repetitive textures and disjointed sequencing. Bryson Paul of HotNewHipHop called it "Che's most audacious work yet," while Elaina Bernstein of Hypebeast deemed it "the epitome of rage-rap in the post-SoundCloud era."

Tour

A tour for the album began on September 3 in Houston, Texas and ended on October 2 in Atlanta, Georgia, with two Canadian dates in Toronto and Montreal. Che told The Fader he wanted the crowd to feel "like they're at a ritual" and to hear his music and "feel safe, like there's no struggles at all." A second leg promoting the Encore edition starts March 31 in Santa Ana, California and ends May 14 in San Antonio, Texas. A European tour titled Che: Lost in Europe begins July 1 in Paris, France and ends July 10 in Frauenfeld, Switzerland as part of Openair Frauenfeld.

Rest in Bass: Encore

Rest in Bass: Encore (stylized in all caps) is a reissue studio album by Che, released on December 25, 2025, through 10K Projects. It serves as the deluxe edition of Rest in Bass and adds a feature from OsamaSon. Che announced the release on Instagram with the caption "FUCKIT IM STEALIN XMAS." On the track "Make Out with My Choppa", Alexander Cole of HotNewHipHop wrote that the beat production is "the most outlandish piece of work that someone will hear," aligning with underground rap philosophy by making everything "as loud and as glitched out as humanly possible."
