GoreX

A Spanish pornographic comedy horror about hypersexual zombies.

Last updated

GoreX, also known as GoreX: The Zombi Horror Picture Show, is a 1997 Spanish film blending pornography, comedy, and horror. Written and directed by Ángel Mora, it was produced by NTC S.R.L. and distributed by Canal X. The plot involves a mad scientist whose drug experiments produce hypersexual zombies.

Plot

In 1988, a hiker named Raimi discovers a headless corpse in the woods and is knocked unconscious. He awakens bound and gagged in the laboratory of Professor Quentin Foster, who monologues about his new drug Goresmina, which eliminates pain. Foster injects Raimi, tortures and mutilates him, then shoots him, declaring the experiment a failure, but notices Raimi's erection and continues refining the drug.

Two years later, three women—Laura, Lina, and Romay—have car trouble and encounter Foster and his assistants Jess and Franco. Foster invites them to stay, has the car and telephones disposed of, and spikes Laura's drink while ranting about humanity's low libido. Laura dreams of sex with Jess, while Franco gives Goresmina to Lina and Romay. Foster shows Laura a monitor of Lina having sex with Franco, whose genitals are ripped off and eaten by the zombified Lina.

Jess kills Franco, and Foster commits suicide. Romay becomes a zombie while masturbating and kills burglars Fulci and Savini. Jess kills Lina, Romay, and three test subjects, then becomes Laura's partner, though Laura secretly continues Foster's work by dosing Jess with Goresmina.

Production

The idea for GoreX originated with producer Antonio Marcos at Canal X, who overheard Ángel Mora mention his love of gore films and suggested he shoot the first gore porn film. Mora stated he did not socialize with the actors because they were one-track-minded about sex. The film was originally set to star Maria de Sanchez, who later appeared in Mora's 2004 film Kannibal: Me gusta la sangre.

Reception

AdultDVDTalk gave GoreX an overall score of 2/4, describing it as a jumbled incomplete film that would frustrate viewers, though noting a more experienced adult filmmaker could do well with the ideas. Horror Online gave it a grade of 1/10, calling the production amateurish in direction, script, acting, effects, and shots, and deeming it a complete failure.
