Lore & Background

In a city constantly under threat from the Hollows, information and distraction are vital commodities. The Guild of Producers emerged to fill this void, producing polished documentaries, sensational news reports, and high-budget entertainment shows that draw on a variety of sources, including interviews and dramatizations of Hollow exploration. They act as the bridge between the dangerous reality of the Hollows and the daily lives of ordinary citizens, often sanitizing or dramatizing events to make them palatable for mass consumption. While they do not typically engage in direct combat, their influence is profound. By controlling the narrative, they shape public perception of Proxies like the Bangboo or elite teams from other factions. Their studios are bustling hubs of creativity where directors, editors, and talent scouts work tirelessly to capture the 'heroic' moments of Hollow exploration, turning perilous expeditions into the city's favorite pastime.

Reader's Guide

The Guild of Producers aims to maintain social stability through entertainment and information control. Their leadership structure is likely corporate, driven by producers who prioritize ratings and public engagement over artistic integrity or raw truth. Publicly, they are viewed as essential service providers who bring joy and news to the populace. However, some citizens may view them with skepticism, suspecting that their reports gloss over the true dangers of the Hollows or exaggerate the capabilities of certain Proxy teams for sponsorship deals. In the broader conflict against the Hollows, their role is indirect but crucial. By keeping morale high and funding entertainment sectors, they ensure that New Eridu remains a functioning society rather than a panic-stricken refugee camp. They often collaborate with Proxies to secure exclusive footage, creating a symbiotic relationship where combatants gain fame and the Guild gains content.
