Background

The original songs for Sitaare Zameen Par were created by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, with Amitabh Bhattacharya writing the lyrics, and Ram Sampath handling the background score. Having previously worked on Taare Zameen Par, the trio noted this soundtrack is upbeat, fun, and celebratory, offering a tongue-in-cheek feel, since the film presents a fresh emotional perspective on people with Down syndrome. They recorded the music at Khan's Panchgani home.

Release

All four songs were released as singles. The first, Good for Nothing performed by Shankar Mahadevan and Bhattacharya, came out on 22 May 2025; netizens noted it as a revamped version of Papa Kehte Hain from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. The second, Sar Aankhon Pe Mere by Arijit Singh and Shariva Parulkar, followed on 29 May. The title track was released on 5 June, and Shubh Mangalam on 11 June with the album; its music video appeared five days later.

Critical reception

Rishabh Suri of Hindustan Times wrote the music is peppy and fits the film, advising not to expect a soundtrack as memorable as Taare Zameen Par. Anupama Chopra of The Hollywood Reporter noted the effervescent title track adds buoyancy. A Bollywood Hungama critic called the music one of the weakest parts but well-woven into the narrative, finding the title track and Good for Nothing somewhat effective, Shubh Mangalam worth watching for visuals, and Sar Aankhon Pe Mere forgettable. Murtuza Iqbal of The Free Press Journal stated the songs do not leave a strong mark, expecting more from Shankar Ehsaan Loy.
