Seto Kaiba
The arrogant CEO who conquered the world with three dragons and an unyielding will.
Seto Kaiba stands as the primary rival to Yugi Muto in the early chapters of the Yu-Gi-Oh! saga, eventually evolving into a complex anti-hero. As the CEO of Kaiba Corporation, he is a technological genius whose ambition drives him to recreate ancient Egyptian god monsters through modern science—though his most famous card, Obelisk the Tormentor, was a scientific replica created by Kaiba Corporation using data from the original card, not an authentic ancient Egyptian artifact. His relentless pursuit of dueling supremacy defines much of the series' conflict.

Lore & Background
Kaiba's journey is one of constant evolution. Initially driven by pure ego and a desire to prove his superiority over Yugi, he gradually learns the value of friendship and sacrifice through his battles with the Pharaoh. While he never softens his competitive edge, he accepts that true strength lies in protecting others. He also faced and defeated one of the Shadow Riders off-screen in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, proving his reach extends beyond his own generation of duelists.
Reader's Guide
Debuting in the Duelist Kingdom arc, Seto Kaiba immediately establishes himself as a force of nature. His signature deck relies heavily on the 'Blue-Eyes White Dragon' archetype, utilizing powerful fusion summons to overwhelm opponents with raw attack power. Personality-wise, Kaiba is defined by his arrogance and belief that he stands above all others. He values logic over emotion and often dismisses the mystical aspects of dueling. However, beneath this icy exterior lies a fierce devotion to his brother Mokuba, who serves as his sole emotional anchor. His key relationships include a rivalry with Yugi Muto, which drives much of the plot, and a complex dynamic with Jaden Yuki in later generations. Major victories include winning the Duelist Kingdom tournament and defeating Maximillion Pegasus, while significant defeats often occur when he faces the full power of the Egyptian God cards.

- Kaiba's original name in the Japanese version was simply 'Seto', with his surname added for international audiences.
- Despite his deep connection to the Millennium Puzzle, Kaiba does not possess an artificial soul created by it; his soul remains entirely his own.
