Gameplay

In this real-time tactics game, three dwarven kingdoms unite to find a new home after their sun dies. The universe is made of stone, with planets hidden inside caves. Players control a team of three dwarves: Smashfist fights with melee weapons, Forcer uses ranged attacks, and Shadow relies on stealth. You start by controlling one dwarf at a time, then the whole group. The game can be paused to issue orders, and some missions involve stealth.

Development

Whale Rock Games was influenced by the Commandos video game series and R. A. Salvatore's novels about Drizzt Do'Urden. The idea to make a video game about dwarves came first, and they added a universe made of stone for the dwarves to mine and explore. A 2014 Kickstarter campaign failed to fund the game, but it was accepted into the Steam Greenlight program. It was released for PCs on February 26, 2016, for Xbox One on February 24, 2017, and for PlayStation 4 on March 28, 2017.
