Rules
A bout consists of two three-minute halves separated by a 30-second break, contested on a nine-meter-diameter mat. Wrestlers score one to five points for legal maneuvers, with points also awarded to the opponent for infractions such as illegal holds or passivity. Three cautions lead to automatic disqualification. Forcing an opponent's shoulders to the mat wins by fall. A 10-point advantage ends the match by technical superiority. After six minutes, the wrestler with more points wins; if tied, the last scorer wins. A wrestler may also win if the opponent is absent or medically unfit.
Qualification
Sixteen quota places were available, with each nation limited to one spot. Five places came from the 2023 World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. Finalists in each category from the four continental qualification tournaments (Asia, Europe, the Americas, and joint Africa & Oceania) earned quota places. The remaining spots were allocated at the 2024 World Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament, which offered at least three quota places.
