History
The first formal team presentation for fans was held in the 1990s, with Alianza Lima becoming the first Peruvian club to implement such an exhibition for its first team. The inaugural edition under the name Noche Blanquiazul took place in 1995 during the presidency of Pío Dávila Esquenazi, with Chilean side Green Cross as the opponent at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium. This precedent established a model later adopted by other Peruvian sports institutions. In following years, the event attracted international clubs including Liverpool of Uruguay, Emelec of Ecuador, and Universidad Católica of Chile. The 2011 edition was an exception: the squad and new kit were unveiled, but no friendly match was played. From 2012 onward, the event continued without interruption except for the 2021 edition, which could not be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Alianza Lima expanded the format to other disciplines: in 2023, the club organized the Noche Blanquiazul Femenina for the women’s football team, one of the first such televised events in Peruvian football, and the Noche Blanquiazul Vóley for the women’s volleyball team. Notable results include the 2013 victory over Universitario de Sucre 6–1, the largest win in the event's history, and the 2010 match against El Nacional of Ecuador ending 3–4. In 2014, Rentistas served as opponent, and a tribute to former player Rafael Castillo was held. In 2024, for the first time, an additional presentation took place outside Lima, in Trujillo, against Universidad Católica of Chile, ending in a goalless draw.
Development and Cultural Aspects
The event allows supporters to see returning players and new signings for the upcoming season. Its format includes the unveiling of the official kit, musical performances, and lighting and pyrotechnic effects during the individual presentation of the squad and coaching staff. The evening concludes with a friendly match against the invited international opponent.
