Story

The Winx Club girls return to Gardenia, Bloom's hometown on Earth, where they work as talent scouts on a reality television program to find talented children and teenagers. Behind the scenes, they try to save them from a Talent Thief while hiding their fairy identities. In the first season, the Winx achieve a new magical transformation called Dreamix, occasionally helped by fellow fairy Roxy. In the second season, the Winx receive missions from the spirit of the World of Dreams, learn of the Queen's troubled past, and hope to reunite her with Peter Pan. Their Dreamix powers upgrade to Onyrix, and they face shadow creatures called a Nemesis drawn from their deepest uncertainties.

Characters

The series features the six main fairies from the original Winx Club series. Bloom, Fairy of the Dragon Flame and leader of the Winx Club, is from the restored planet Domino but grew up on Earth; she has red-orange waist-length hair and light blue eyes, and controls fire, heat, lava, and healing. Stella, Fairy of the Shining Sun from Solaria, has waist-length blonde hair and hazel brown eyes; her magic derives from light, and in season 2 she can look into memories made in a location. Flora, Fairy of Nature from Lynphea, has waist-length honey-colored hair, green eyes, and tan skin; she creates, controls, and communicates with plants and the element of Earth. Tecna, Fairy of Technology from Zenith, has short purple hair, turquoise eyes, and pale skin; she speaks to machinery and electronics and controls lightning, and can be turned into a dark-robot of herself when combined with dark magic. Musa, Fairy of Music from Melody, has waist-length dark blue hair with bangs, dark eyes, and pale skin; she creates powerful ultrasonic waves and solid barriers of sound. Aisha, Fairy of Waves from Andros, has wavy tawny port brown hair, gray-blue eyes, and dark skin; she manipulates water and a pink liquid called Morphix.

Production

Netflix commissioned Rainbow to produce two seasons of World of Winx in September 2014, with each season containing thirteen 22-minute episodes. The series follows the girls on a secret global mission to find gifted children in art, sports, music, and science. Originally set for an early 2016 release, the show was postponed and finally debuted as a Netflix original on November 4 of that year. Season two arrived on June 16, 2017. The show was cancelled after two seasons, leaving its story unresolved.

Reception

Ella Anders, a reviewer for BSC Kids, noted that she had low expectations given the more recent Winx Club seasons but found World of Winx surprisingly good. She stated that the story is meaningful, tightly woven, and that every moment counts, with humor and heart shining through. She also remarked that the Winx girls were back to their old selves.
