Gameplay
Players control Jett Rocket, a planetary inspector who must stop the Power Plant Posse from polluting the planet Yoroppa. The game has three areas: the tropical Atoll, the glacial Northpole, and the toxic Swamps. Each stage contains solar cells that must be collected to unlock further stages and areas. At the end of each area, Jett defeats a PPP general. Jett can jump, hover with a jet pack, paraglide, and ride a hoverboard or jetboat. An achievement system is available during or after the main story.
Reception
Jett Rocket received mostly positive reception. Cubed3 called it a contender for WiiWare Game of the Year. Wiiloveit.com gave it a 28 out of 30 and stated it surpassed Lostwinds. Some reviewers noted that a Time Attack mode would improve replay value for a sequel. The game holds a Metacritic score of 70, indicating mixed or average reviews.
Sequel
A potential sequel was first mentioned in May 2011 and confirmed in December 2011 as Jett Rocket Super Surf for the Nintendo 3DS eShop. It was renamed Jett Rocket II: The Wrath of Taikai in January 2013. After a website launch and screenshots, a teaser trailer appeared in April. The game was delayed to Q3 to add 3D free-roaming levels while maintaining 60 frames per second. It was submitted to the eShop in late August and released on 13 November 2013.
