Nasco (grape)
Ancient Sardinian white grape, now rare, used in dry, sweet, and fortified wines.
Nasco is a white wine grape variety grown primarily in Sardinia near Cagliari. Described as ancient, it has a long history on the island. The Nasco di Cagliari DOC requires wines to be 95–100% Nasco. Phylloxera devastated plantings in the 19th century, and today fewer than 40 hectares remain.
