Vignoles (grape)
A hybrid grape valued for late-harvest and ice wines.
Vignoles is a complex hybrid white wine grape variety of uncertain parentage, originally thought to have been developed by French breeder J.F. Ravat as Ravat 51. Despite its French name, it is primarily grown in North America, notably in New York's Finger Lakes region and the Midwest. It is prized for producing balanced late-harvest sweet wines, including ice wine, as well as dry and off-dry styles.
