White Wine Grape Varieties from France Codexery

Chasan (grape)

A French white grape with disputed parentage, planted mainly in Languedoc.

Chasan is a white wine grape from France, mainly grown in Languedoc. Paul Truel created it in 1958 at an INRA research station near Montpellier. Its parentage is debated: the Vitis International Variety Catalogue says it comes from Listan and Pinot, while experts like Jancis Robinson and Oz Clarke claim it is a cross of Listan and Chardonnay.
