The fastest paddlers complete a course in 80 to 120 seconds, though times can reach 200 seconds depending on difficulty and conditions. To pass a gate correctly, the athlete’s entire head (or all athletes’ heads) and part of the boat must go through at the same time. Touching a pole adds a two-second penalty.
