Critical reception
Portuguese music journalist João Santos, writing in the daily newspaper Público, described the video album as "a great picture with great sound" and noted Eric Clapton's "fantastic performing ability" presented "in full circle" in the film. Santos praised the "various special guests either singing or playing" and awarded the release five out of five stars. AllMusic critic Heather Phares characterized the track listing as "a somewhat routine selection of Clapton's hits" but added that "his collaborations with the aforementioned guests add some interesting twists."
Phares remarked that "the unusual combination of Blige and Clapton works surprisingly well," concluding that while the release "is not Clapton's most inspired concert video and the disc offers little in the way of extra features, [it] still may please his hardcore fans," giving it three out of five stars. Critics from Guitar Nine praised the Dolby Digital surround sound, and music journalists from Examiner.com called the release "great."
