Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters

Plot

The Grey Knights are a secret order of the Imperium of Man, a chapter of Adeptus Astartes composed of psychics created by the Emperor of Mankind and Malcador the Sigilite to combat daemonic forces. In the prologue, Captain Agravain of the Grey Knight Strike Force Xiphos battles on the fallen planet of Gaheris against a Khornate warhost led by the Bloodthirster Ere'khul. Agravain banishes Ere'khul but dies along with most of his squad. Ectar, a Grey Knight Purifier aboard the strike cruiser Baleful Edict on punishment detail, appoints a survivor as the new commander.

Ectar and Adeptus Mechanicus Dominus Lunete travel to Titan for debriefing when Inquisitor Kartha Vakir of the Ordo Malleus intercepts them, requesting aid in investigating a sector-wide plague called The Bloom. Their investigations lead to an Aeldari Craftworld lost to Nurgle's corruption. In the infinity circuit chamber, a dormant Avatar of Khaine explains that five Champions of Nurgle known as the Reapers spread The Bloom to summon a being called the Morbus. As Vakir obtains a bloom seed, Death Guard traitor astartes led by Daemon-Prince Kadex Ilkarion attack; Ilkarion had been encountered and banished by Vakir years earlier.
