Fictional character biography
Tina McGee first studied Wally West's metabolism thanks to a Harvard grant. Her husband, Jerry McGee, had become the homicidal speedster Speed Demon before he reformed and abandoned the steroids that gave him artificial speed. Despite being legally married and older than Wally, Tina began a romantic relationship with him and moved into his home. Their bond eventually collapsed under pressures like Wally's overbearing mother. When an alien influence stripped the Flash of his speed, Tina headed a research project at the Pacific Institute to bring it back. The treatment instead sent Wally's speed soaring, leaving destruction in his wake across the country. Tina then joined forces with Mason Trollbridge, her now-recovered ex-husband and the Flash's detective friend, to track down the disoriented Wally. During this quest, Tina and Jerry rekindled their marriage. Later, the couple accidentally released the robotic intelligence Kilg%re among their university coworkers; the entity was non-violent and simply wanted to experience life fully. Tina and Jerry later went to work at Central City's S.T.A.R. Labs, where they aided the Flash multiple times, including caring for his injured ally Cyborg. Eventually, Tina became the facility's director. She led a project to investigate what had happened to the Speed Force, working with Bart Allen, then seemingly the only surviving speedster.
In other media
Amanda Pays played Tina McGee in both Flash TV series. In the 1990 show, she helped Barry Allen fight crime. She later had a brief appearance in a Robot Chicken DC special. For the 2014 series, Pays returned as a different version: the head of Mercury Labs, a company that competes with S.T.A.R. Labs, and a friend to both Harrison Wells and Henry Allen. This Tina is a multiversal double of the 1990 one. The original Tina appeared through old footage in Crisis on Infinite Earths, where she had married Barry and later died.
