Altea

Lore & Background

The legacy of Altea lives on through its technology and the Voltron Force itself. The Castle of Lions, central to the Paladins' operations, is built upon Altean blueprints designed to protect the universe from tyranny. Princess Allura carries the weight of her people's memory, using her heritage to guide the team. Her connection to Altea drives much of the emotional core of the conflict, representing a lost paradise that must be avenged and restored through unity.

Reader's Guide

Geographically, Altea is depicted in records as a world dominated by crystalline structures and advanced architecture powered by blue energy. While the physical planet lies ruined or under Galra occupation during the series, its cultural footprint remains vital to the plot. Politically, it was once an independent kingdom before falling victim to imperial conquest. The loss of Altea serves as the primary motivation for the resistance against Zarkon. Culturally, the Alteans valued knowledge and peace, contrasting sharply with the militaristic Galra Empire. In terms of significance, Altea provides the technological foundation for the Voltron Force. Without Altean science, the Lions could not combine, and the Castle would not exist. The planet represents the stakes of the war: a future where such beauty can be preserved rather than destroyed.
