"Mukanjyo" (stylized as "MUKANJYO") is a song by Japanese rock band Survive Said the Prophet. It served as the first opening theme for the 2020 TV anime Vinland Saga. The track was released on August 21, 2019 by Sony Music Records.

Overview
The opening theme for the 2020 anime Vinland Saga, "Mukanjyo," was first announced by the manga's creator, Makoto Yukimura, in May 2019. Yosh of Survive Said the Prophet noted that the band found the track easy to perform, thanks to their working relationship with director Shūhei Yabuta. Pre-downloads and streaming for the song began on August 21, the same day the music video—which centers on the concept of revenge—dropped on the band's YouTube channel. The first press limited edition came with a DVD featuring the anime's opening without credits. For the "Made in Asia Tour," guest acts included Waterweed in Takamatsu on the first day and Lynch, with a two-band live show involving ten groups like Newspeak. The second official advance sale for tour tickets opened at 6:00 PM on August 2. Upon release, both the standard and limited CD editions charted at number 45 on the Oricon charts. The theme was re-released in 2023.
Reception
The opening theme "Mukanjyo" earned a spot on Anime News Network's list of top Summer 2019 themes, praised largely for its music video. That video depicts Thorfinn's youthful desire for adventure, then his descent into rage after Askeladd's men kill his father. It ends with a furious Thorfinn staring at the sky. The song was nominated for Best Opening Sequence at the 2020 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. IGN also highlighted it as a standout piece from the first season, noting its use of many instruments.
