The 2020-21 season cemented Villarreal's reputation as 'Europe's best team' in terms of consistency and tactical adaptability. The Anfield semi-final leg was a pivotal moment where Emery's side neutralized Liverpool's high press with intricate passing triangles and rapid transitions. Tactically, the battle was won in the midfield. Dani Parejo's distribution allowed the Yellow Submarine to bypass Liverpool's aggressive first line of defense, creating space for Gerard Moreno and Aleix García to exploit.
