Void Crew is set in space where players control cloned astronauts called 'ectypes' who work for a mysterious god-like presence called METEM. METEM has laid down principles of survival for the remains of humanity. Players are sent out into space on customizable spaceships to take on a collective of enemies called The Hollow, while maintaining their ship, gathering resources, and leveling up. Players can choose between several roles: Pilot, Gunner, Engineer, or Scavenger, each with their own set of skills. Tasks include repairing damaged systems and going EVA to collect supplies and make hull repairs. The game is a roguelite, meaning each successful mission allows upgrades to characters or the ship, and a timer starts once a mission is chosen, requiring completion in as little time as possible.

The game entered early access on September 7, 2023, with an exclusive gameplay announcement video by YouTuber Jesse Cox, who played with the developers. According to an interview with CEO Benjamin Lund, the early access period was essential for building community and shaping the game, with player feedback revealing new ways of playing. The game was in early access for just under two years. The full PC release on September 4, 2025, also marked a 'shadowdrop' to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with full crossplay, ported with help from Swedish studio Piktiv.

Both Gaming Nexus and GLHF on Sports Illustrated highlighted the dissatisfying flying mechanic, which they felt does not relay the sensation of zero-gravity. The game won a 'Grand Winner' award at the NYX Game Awards and an 'Indie - PC Game' award, and was nominated for Best Debut and Best Game Design at Spilprisen 2024. In 2025, it won 'Best Multiplayer Game' at the 17th Unity Awards.
