Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered

A remastered compilation of three darker Tomb Raider titles.

Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered

Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered is a 2025 compilation of action-adventure games, developed and published by Aspyr. It remasters three titles originally created by Core Design: *The Last Revelation* (1999), *Chronicles* (2000), and *The Angel of Darkness* (2003). The collection launched on 14 February 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Development began after the release of *Tomb Raider I–III Remastered* (2024), with the team incorporating player feedback. Aspyr and co-developer Saber Interactive aimed to preserve the darker atmosphere of these three games during the remastering process. For *The Angel of Darkness*, several pieces of content cut during its original development were restored, including voice lines and gameplay elements. The collection also includes the "Times Exclusive" level, a rare promotional level originally released for *Tomb Raider: Chronicles*. According to Aspyr brand manager Matthew Ray, the team took a "unique approach" to graphical updates, enhancing the visuals without altering the established art style. Additional features include an optional original graphics mode and expanded photo mode options.

After launch, fans noted that some French dialogue sounded robotic. French voice actress Françoise Cadol accused Aspyr of using generative AI to replicate her voice without consent, and her lawyer issued a cease-and-desist notice. Brazilian voice actress Lene Bastos made similar accusations. Aspyr issued a formal apology and stated it would remove the AI-generated voice lines. An April 2025 hotfix removed the AI voices while retaining other patch elements.

The collection received mixed reviews from critics. According to Metacritic, it garnered "mixed or average" scores, while OpenCritic found that 47% of critics recommended the game.

Lore & Background

Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered began production after the release of Tomb Raider I–III Remastered (2024), with the team taking player feedback into account. Aspyr was already intending to remaster all the Core Design-era Tomb Raider titles before the first remaster's release, and the positive response confirmed their decision. The team wanted to preserve the darker atmosphere of the three games through the remastering process, taking a 'unique approach' to graphical updates that improved and enhanced without removing the established art style.
