Gameplay
In City Bomber, players step into the role of Cat Burglar 306, who has just pulled off a heist at a crooked casino and now must flee the pursuing gang. The goal is to hit checkpoints before a timer runs out, with the final sequence showing the car driving onto an airplane and escaping. The vehicle starts equipped with missiles to fire at enemies and the ability to jump over threats. Destroying certain enemy cars drops power-ups that boost performance: missiles increase firepower, wings extend jump range, rocket boosters raise speed, and buzzsaws let the car smash through obstacles without harm for a short period. Bumping into other cars usually only slows the player down, not damages them. However, oil slicks left by enemies cause the car to spin out and lose speed. Crashing into obstacles or driving off the track destroys the car. Although the player has an endless supply of cars, each wreck costs time and strips away all collected power-ups. Failing to reach a checkpoint, shown on a map at the left side of the screen, before time expires ends the game. Points come from destroying enemy cars, with extra bonuses at the end of each course based on how much time remains.
