Mimasaka Province

Mimasaka Province is where Miyamoto Musashi is said to have lived, in Miyamoto village in the Yoshino district; his father's family served the lord of Takayama Castle in the same district. In Vagabond, Takezō returns to his hometown, Miyamoto village, after the battle, and is later renamed after it. A Miyamoto Musashi Budokan training centre in Ōhara-chō (Mimasaka), Okayama Prefecture, was built in his honour.
