Julius Nättinen

Playing career

Nättinen began his professional career in Finland, making a single Liiga appearance with JYP Jyväskylä during the 2013–14 season. After being drafted, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks on 16 July 2015 and moved to major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), having been selected 51st overall by the Barrie Colts in the 2015 CHL Import Draft. Following a rookie OHL season in which he recorded 71 points in 52 games with the Colts, he was traded to the Windsor Spitfires on 26 June 2016. For the 2017–18 season, his first as a professional in North America, Nättinen was assigned to the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League (AHL), where he managed 4 goals in 55 games. After being cut during the Ducks' 2018 training camp, he opted for a mutual release from his contract on 24 September 2018. He then returned to JYP Jyväskylä on a three-year contract signed the following day, and led the Liiga with 33 goals in the 2019–20 season. On 3 July 2020, Nättinen signed a one-year deal with HC Ambrì-Piotta of the National League (NL). A groin strain delayed his start to the season, but he scored 12 goals in his first 10 regular-season games and finished with 17 goals and 25 points in 32 games. He moved to Sweden on 20 May 2021, agreeing to a one-year contract with reigning SHL champions Växjö Lakers. After one season with Växjö, he left upon contract expiry and signed a two-year contract with HIFK of the Finnish Liiga on 10 May 2022.
