Christian Folin

Playing career

Christian Folin put up six goals and 14 assists over 41 games for UMass Lowell in the 2013–14 season. The Minnesota Wild signed him as an undrafted free agent on April 1, 2014, giving him a two-year entry-level deal. He debuted in the NHL just nine days later, picking up an assist in a 4–2 win against the St. Louis Blues. After his contract with the Wild expired, Folin became a free agent and signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Los Angeles Kings on July 1, 2017. During the 2017–18 season, he worked as a third-pairing defenseman for the Kings, setting personal bests with three goals and 13 points in 65 games. On July 5, 2018, he inked another one-year deal, this time for $800,000, with the Philadelphia Flyers. He started the 2018–19 season in a bottom-pairing role, appearing in 26 games and recording two assists before being traded alongside Dale Weise to the Montreal Canadiens on February 10, 2019, in exchange for David Schlemko and Byron Froese. The Canadiens extended his contract for another year on April 18. Folin was placed on waivers by Montreal on January 5, 2020, and sent down to the Laval Rocket. When recalled on February 4, 2020, he scored a goal in a 5–4 shootout win. After seven seasons in the NHL, Folin chose to head back to Sweden, signing with the Växjö Lakers of the SHL for the remainder of the 2020–21 season on December 30, 2020.
