Plot
Barbarita Ruiz, a sweet seamstress in Miami, goes to the mansion of wealthy widow Ricarda Thompson for a dress fitting. There she meets Ricarda's older son Valentino, a dishonest man who becomes captivated by her beauty and falls in love with her, despite his mother's opposition. Barbarita and Valentino marry in a simple ceremony, but on their wedding night they are in a car accident that kills Valentino. Ricarda blames Barbarita and devises a revenge plan: her younger son Antonio Adolfo will seduce Barbarita and then abandon her.
Antonio follows the plan, but after breaking Barbarita's heart, he realizes he has fallen in love with her. When Barbarita becomes pregnant with Antonio's child, they reconcile. Complications arise when Valentino reappears, having faked his death to hide his embezzlement of the family fortune. Additionally, Antonio was previously engaged to Alexandra Montesinos, a jealous woman who will do anything to keep him.
