Lore & Background
Gideon is a gargoyle created by the Archangel Michael to battle demons on Earth. He operates out of a cathedral where he serves as second-in-command to Queen Leonore. His narrative arc in the source involves a critical betrayal: after Adam escapes an initial capture attempt, Gideon is instructed to trade Adam for Leonore's safety but fails when Adam breaks free. Later, acting on Leonore's secret orders to eliminate Adam once the journal is retrieved, Gideon engages in a violent fight with the creature. Ultimately, Adam ascends Gideon, destroying his body and trapping his soul in Heaven. This sequence of events is unique to the Frankenstein mythos reimagined by Kevin Grevioux and Stuart Beattie.
Reader's Guide
His species is explicitly stated as gargoyle, not Lycan. His actions are driven by loyalty to his queen and the orders given to him, even when those orders involve a secret assassination attempt on Adam Frankenstein.
