Cat claims to be fierce, and Fox proposes marriage, promising to be a good wife and provide a home. Fox hunts and feeds Cat, who grows strong and healthy. When Fox tells other forest animals about its fierce husband, they become curious. One animal peeks into Fox's window and sees Cat react wildly after being burned by an ember, confirming Fox's claim. The animals arrange a dinner party with borscht, but Fox insists they hide until Cat has eaten. At the party, Cat's meowing is heard as 'more,' astonishing the animals. Cat then mistakes the boar's tail for a mouse and bites it, causing a chain reaction: the boar knocks over the table, scaring Bear up a tree, where a branch breaks and falls on Rabbit's log, which hits Wolf. All animals flee, marveling at their close call with the fierce Mr Kotsky.
