Last updated

DJ Luck & MC Neat are a British musical duo consisting of Joel Samuels (DJ Luck) and Michael Rose (MC Neat). They perform a combination of house music and UK garage, and achieved three consecutive top 10 hits in the United Kingdom from 1999 to 2000.

Career

The duo first gained attention with their 1999 track "A Little Bit of Luck," which began as a promotional dubplate sold for £5 and climbed to number 9 on the UK chart in January 2000. That same year, they put out "Masterblaster 2000," a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster (Jammin)" featuring vocalist JJ, who appears on many of their songs; this became their biggest hit, reaching number 5 in June 2000. Their take on Ollie & Jerry's "Breakin'...

There's No Stopping Us," retitled "Ain't No Stoppin' Us," hit number 8 in October 2000. They also performed their number 12 track "Piano Loco" on Top of the Pops. Following these early successes, most of their later work and debut album were created with or by underground producer Shy Cookie, who moved their sound away from samples toward programmed and live instruments, preserving their underground credibility while fueling mainstream popularity. By 2002, they were simply billed as Luck & Neat.
