Plot
After a session with his psychiatrist, John Croxley—a man possessing extraordinary ESP—was halted by SHADO personnel as a UFO approached. The craft slammed into Croxley’s home, killing his wife and wounding Colonel Foster, who had been tracking it from a SHADO mobile unit. Foster was hospitalized while a SHADO team examined the wreckage. Under alien control, Croxley then probed the minds of the investigators, uncovering every detail of SHADO’s operations. Foster felt an unseen presence watching him, a side effect of Croxley’s mental intrusion. Croxley sent Straker what appeared to be a film script but was actually a complete blueprint of SHADO’s structure, schedules, and locations. After speaking with Croxley’s psychiatrist, Straker and Freeman learned of his ESP and were directed to meet him at his destroyed house, where he planned to kill them. Foster, advised that returning to the crash site would aid his recovery, arrived as well. Though Croxley sensed Foster’s approach, he did not stop him, and Foster shot Croxley just before he could murder Straker and Freeman.
