Career
Robertson’s distinctive, high-pitched voice earned her work on several animated shows, including Batman: The Animated Series, The Critic, The Tick, and The Simpsons. She also contributed her voice to the 1991 film Beauty and the Beast. Between 1993 and 1995, she voiced the character Penny in the Secret Squirrel segments of 2 Stupid Dogs. In 1990, she performed a brief spoken-word piece on Roger McGuinn’s album Back from Rio. Starting in 2011, she took on the role of Penny Wise in the long-running radio series Adventures in Odyssey. Since 2019, she has been the voice of the main character Ollie in the animated series Ollie & Scoops.
In April 2024, former child star Drake Bell, known for The Amanda Show and Drake & Josh, publicly criticized Robertson for writing a letter supporting Brian Peck, a Nickelodeon voice coach later convicted of sexually assaulting Bell when he was a teenager in 2001. The backlash caused Robertson to delete her Instagram account. She had written the letter in 2004, after Peck was charged with 11 counts of lewd sexual conduct, including sodomy and oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, with a minor. In the letter, she described Bell as an "overtly gay, oversexed person" and claimed that Bell, then 14 or 15, had pressured Peck, then 40 or 41, into a sexual relationship. The letter became public shortly before the release of the documentary Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.
